Objective
The brief was to build a virtual innovation lab focused on the automotive industry: a space for meetings, training, product demonstrations, and testing new Metaverse technologies, to be used by both Epic Staff and their potential customers.
The lab's design takes cues from real Epic facilities. Users can walk through interactive training modules, experiment with automotive designs in a virtual setting, and collaborate in shared spaces without anyone needing to travel.

Because it's virtual, the lab is accessible globally. Teams in different offices or countries join the same session without travel. The Cyber Hub and meeting rooms support real-time collaboration for brainstorming and workshops.
The lab scales to different group sizes and adapts to new training needs without physical renovation. It also cuts the cost of maintaining a dedicated training facility and flying people in for sessions.

Continuous Innovation and Updates
The lab gets updated with new automotive technologies and training modules as they become relevant. No physical rebuild required.
Outcome
The Virtual Detroit Lab is now used by Epic Games staff and their automotive clients for training, product demonstrations, and collaborative design sessions. The lab gets updated with new modules as needs change, without the cost or logistics of maintaining a physical facility. Its emphasis on immersive, interactive, and accessible training experiences positions the lab as a reference point for future developments in digital collaborative and training environments.
